On the road. Sep ’12

Early September and my 5 weeks in Baleal, Portugal came to a close. Working in a hostel is a strange thing. People are always coming and going and now I was leaving too. We packed up the car, said our goodbyes and headed out onto the road, destination Hasparren, The Pyrenees.

In two and half days we crawled slowly through the Portuguese back roads, pegged it down the Spanish motorways and wound round the traffic jams in France.

In Portugal we passed through deserted, sun-baked villages yet the whole of Spain was just blur of flat plains and roadside petrol stations. A quick surf stop in Anglet then up we went into the green hills of the Basque Country.
